Pastoral Work of the Catholic Diocese of Marsabit
Transforming Lives in the Spirit of Christ Across the Heart of Northern Kenya
The Catholic Diocese of Marsabit is deeply committed to carrying out pastoral work that brings the light of the Gospel into every town, village, manyatta, and homestead across this vast and vibrant county. Our pastoral mission is rooted in the love of God, the example of Jesus Christ, and the rich diversity of peoples from the shores of Lake Turkana and the deserts of Kaisut to the busy streets of Moyale and the hills of Hurri.
Through prayer, sacramental life, evangelization, community outreach, and compassionate service, our pastoral work seeks to strengthen faith, build community, promote peace, and uplift human dignity especially among the pastoralist communities who make up the heart of Marsabit Diocese.
At the heart of this mission are our parishes, each an active apostolate where pastoral care comes alive through liturgy, catechesis, youth formation, social outreach, and works of mercy.
The Apostolate of Our Parishes
Each parish of the Diocese is a living community a base for pastoral ministry and a beacon of hope, faith and unity in its locality. Below are our parishes and their role in the Diocese’s pastoral work:
1. Cathedral of Our Lady of Consolata Marsabit
As the mother church of the Diocese, the Cathedral is the spiritual heart of pastoral life. It anchors diocesan celebrations, major liturgies, and serves as a center for evangelization, family ministries, youth formation, and deepening faith in Christ.
